Creating a “response transform” is very helpful when repackaging software. You create a response transform by running certain software which allows stepping through the app install and subsequently captures all the choices made for that install.
A former employer had an AdminStudio license and I used one feature of InstallShield that allowed creation of response transforms almost exclusively. Nowadays that piece lives by itself: InstallShield Tuner. Here’s a way you can get it.
It seems that all the free limited versions of AdminStudio that were distributed for use with app deployment software have been discontinued. I wanted to try out the SCCM edition again but most mentions of it from Flexera’s website are missing the download links. The SCCM edition had a sibling that was compatible with LANDesk. After some research, I found that the Wayback Machine knew enough about it to get me a link.
To get a copy of Tuner installed, run setup for AdminStudio 2014 for LANDesk and then uninstall everything except Tuner (you’d need a license code for all those pieces anyway).
The more modern (and available) versions, like the demo and trials, may work the same way but I’ve not tested them. Your mileage may vary, of course. And I can’t guarantee any of the links above will work past the date this post was published.
